Amanda Bates is an Associate Professor at Memorial University in Newfoundland and Canada Research Chair. One of the major themes of her research program is to quantify biodiversity in time and space, and relate emergent patterns to environmental drivers and functional traits of species. She uses a wide range of statistical and modelling techniques to advance understanding of key drivers of ecological change – which includes application of modern statistical approaches to identify complex patterns arising in nature. She will bring this expertise to the project.
